BGM was inspired by a longing for sisterhood, healing, and community in a society that has historically undervalued Black women's wellness.

More recently, it has been challenging for Black women to find trusted practitioners and teachers to empower their healing in community.

BGM is revolutionizing wellness by integrating our four pillars into an innovative educational brand that empowers Black women to awaken their healer within.

Shydeia Caldwell

Shydeia Caldwell is a healer, teacher and writer. Her passion turned to purpose and led to the founding of her wellness brand Black Girl Magik. The intention behind Shydeia’s work is to build community, ancestral connection and create spaces of belonging for people to acknowledge their gifts. Shydeia teaches courses, workshops, and retreats to guide others to understand that their purpose is to deliver the gift within them. She believes that our hearts and souls desire to be of service and when we take action we make the world a better place. Caldwell believes her greatest accomplishment is a continued study of indigenous knowledge systems that honor the relationship between the ancestors, the Earth, and feminine medicine.

    Held the first BGM Meetup. Facilitated healing spaces at colleges and universities around the US.

  • 2017

    Keynote Speaker for The National Council of Negro Women, Inc.

  • 2018

    Won the Girlboss Grant

  • 2019

    Keynote Speaker for SXSW International Women's Day Festival.

  • 2019

    National Wellness Tour to 5 major cities and featured on Oprah Winfrey Network.

  • 2020

    Fundraising Concert for Loveland Foundation. Launched Crowdfund to build membership platform.

  • 2020

    Malidoma Patrice Somé confirmed through divination the vision for a feminine medicine school.

  • 2021

    Trained with Malidoma Patrice Somé. Debuted Sanctuary School in Teen Vogue.

  • 2021

    Free Meet-ups for Black Women to check-in during the pandemic.

  • 2022

    The launch of the Sanctuary School and Shydeia signed to CAA.

  • 2023

    Shydeia Named Create and Cultivate Health and Wellness Honoree for 100 Women List
